Mounts are pre-loaded which allows the engine to move vertically and laterally to isolate vibration within a definded range. Mounts are also shear-loaded which makes the mount stiff fore and aft to transmit full forward and reverse propeller thrust without excessive engine movement. All steel parts are zinc plated to limit corrosion. The rubber damper is covered by an oil shield to protect it from petroleum based contamination.
